History

From the founding of Haigh Architects by E Donald Haigh in 1946, the partnership was developed by his widow, Joan Haigh, Michael Bottomley** and in 1995 by Donald’s son, Roger Haigh.

Nicola Foot joined the practice as a senior architect in 2007, and in 2018, she took over as company director of Haigh Architects Ltd, with her husband Alasdair Darroch as finance director, and a small team of skilled and experienced architects.

The focus of the well-established practice continues to be the quality of design, meeting the needs of clients, and creating inspiring spaces, particularly for historic buildings in sensitive settings.

** Michael Bottomley was also a celebrated local artist, famous for his Cumbrian street scenes. The following link will take you to the website for the E M Bottomley painting archive www.michaelbottomley.net
