CAfS Open House Visit to Jennywell Hall

Nicki Foot opened her home to the Green Build Festival and invited enthusiasts to visit her Grade 2 listed stone built village house, and was on hand to answer any questions. Nicki has been extensively repairing and upgrading with alterations and improvements to create a family home that is comfortable, thermally efficient and sustainable, while retaining original fabric where possible. Natural breathable materials, as these are compatible with traditional materials, were used.

Improvements and interesting features included limecrete floors, oak roof structure, lime plaster internally, combined with wood fibre insulation boards and sheep wool insulation, restored original leaded lights and metal windows, restored original beams, repaired and salvaged doors and panelling, lath and plaster walls and ceilings, restored moulded cornices and new natural stone and solid wood floors.
